Self-driving (or not), de-personalised… SHARED in the first place. When someone drives to work, the car then stands in a parking lot for several hours, just waiting, taking up space. In the meantime, it could serve to other people. We have the technology, all we need to do is think up a good system and slowly change the mind-set. Many families already have more than one car. I personally wouldn’t mind driving only shared cars, without having one to call my own. People who consider this hard to imagine could have their own car in the garage, ready for weekends, holidays etc., but use the shared cars for daily commuting, shopping and so – without adding one more vehicle into the clogged city streets, when it’s not really necessary.
Strangers are dirty. I don’t say that because I hate strangers, I say that because I’m much more fastidious than most people, and strangers *really are* dirty compared to me. I don’t want them touching my stuff, and probably breaking it.

That’s what I do for five years now, after two years of not even have a shared one.
And no, it is not hard. After this time I can not imagine having a own car to care about again.
Shared cars won’t happen. Sorry, but the hard truth is that there’s always that mentality of having something “just in case I need it”. That’s why people have SUVs that never see a mud trail, or carbon-fibre racing bicycles that are only used for leisure riding on weekends.

^ I like those ideas very much!
Sorry, but your second name makes me hungry 😉
As long as it wasn’t a Prius…

“Shared cars won’t happen.” ? Sorry, they do…
Not for everyone, of course, but there are also still a few who prefer horse and carriage…
