Even though lane changes without signals are a sure sing of a mindless motorist and douchebag driver, traffic is neither, nor should be, an arms race.

It seems Yehuda is using STI shifters. I thought he might prefer downtube friction levers.

No, I think he’s jamming on the brakes.
And what’s wrong with downtube friction levers, anyway?

“…Immanent threat of death or grievous bodily harm…” So I suppose once they’ve changed lanes it’s too late and before they do it’s too early.

That must be why folks that don’t signal shift lanes with such tenacity, keep that immanency window brief to keep their hazard from bicyclists to a minimum.

All this talk about shooting on the road inevitably reminded me of this:

If You didn’t see the movie, then I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Yehuda looks like a bar-end shifter guy to me. SunTour, of course.

    In Buddharakkhita’s translation this is:

Hatred is never appeased by hatred in this world. By non-hatred alone is hatred appeased. This is a law eternal.

    In Thanissaro’s version this is:

Hostilities aren’t stilled through hostility, regardless.
Hostilities are stilled through non-hostility: this, an unending truth.

    “… an arms race….”

Nah, bicycling is more about leg strength.

Want an arms race, take up kayaking 😉
