Awwww…. Yehuda and Thistle acting like a couple of kids playing in the snow. Ain’t that cute?
Just remember, Yehuda, to give that bakfiets a good thorough cleaning once the effects of the eggnog wears off.
True enough. But exposed chains and cables can still get wet and start to rust (especially if there is a little salt mixed with the snow and slush; a common enough condition in most American urban environments).
And “low maintenance” does not equal “no maintenance”.
Not saying I’d do it every time I take my bike out in the winter, but a couple ounces of schnapps added to the water bottle keeps the contents from freezing.

Bakfietsen are Dutch. No cleaning necessary. Internal hub gears and internal hub brakes are low maintenance. See:

Dirt still must be removed. It just must!
Yeah, that’s what rain is for ….
Chain case and stainless steel chains FTW!
My ‘winter’ bike can be hosed off and ridden again another day.

Happy Hollidays Everyone.
