Yeah Yeah forcing people to ride will work. To be honest Yehuda is a good guy, However I could take so much of him in real life and would look for Joe in the shop. That being said I am a bit of idealist too.
Gasoline taxes are a small percentage of what they were. Check out the rate in the early 70s, when people were not complaining of the state of repair of roads and bridges. You get what you pay for.
As far as I can see over here, high gasoline prices will not stop people from driving.
The Jokes we made in the 80’s are long covered by reality, the average income droped nearly by half but the people still drive, even very short distances. The average drive is 6km’s ~3.7 miles…
Instead make cycling more attractive. As it is, in most cities a bicycle is the fastest way to get around. Just make it more convenient. Better WELL DESIGNED facilities, parking and work accommodations.

Well said! I hate having to drive in traffic. On a Bike you just pass everything.
