Now that I grow older and went just pedal for years, I consider to by shoes and clipless pedals for daily commute.
I fell over more times with cleats and straps than I ever have with clipless. One you tighten down that strap, you aren’t *ever* getting your foot out.
That brings back a memory from a long, long time ago. Hadn’t learned how to adjust the spring tension on my first set of Look pedals.

From 1990 to 2009 I used the old Shimano 105 Look compatible pedals, which had a Panic Release Mode. Then I went to SPD.

You clip the shoe to the pedal. Why are they called ‘clipless’?
