Do not know about the weather in Ohio, but over here, in north germany, weather never makes it impossible or a hard deal to rideโฆ Snow? Ice? Just a question of the right tyres ๐
Okay, we normally never have more than 20cm of snow.
An just today, for the first time in years I took a car to work, but that is a different story.
My bike handles better than a car in the snow, but that’s the point. I don’t trust drivers to be in control, so I don’t like riding in traffic until it gets plowed. At least I have the subway as an alternative.
This winter it’s moot though, there has been almost no snow.
20 cm of snow isn’t much, unless it all falls in the same hour. I ride in a place that averages about 315 cm per winter. Because the roads are well-plowed, I can ride almost every day through the winter. But when a lot comes down in a short interval riding and driving are difficult for almost everyone.
I also have better control than most cars (my snow bike has knobby mountain bike tires).
IN my Mango Velomobile, Snow in the UK is rarely a problem.
IF things get icy, I put the spiked knobblies on and enjoy a slightly slower ride with no problems of falling over, The noise of spikes get peoples attention so I don’t have problems of pedestrians getting in the way. Usually. ๐
