It *wasn’t* good enough in 1978, but the technology didn’t exist to install backup cameras in cars back then. You don’t realize all the times you couldn’t see what was immediately below the bottom edge of your rear windshield because the opaque metal body of your car obstructed your view. It doesn’t matter how good you are at using mirrors or twisting yourself around in the driver’s seat to look directly out the rear windshield — a technique I use myself, but only *after* checking the backup camera. The only way to see what is directly behind your car is to have a backup camera.
Three, drivers have short memories. They also seem to lack object permanence to remember the cyclist they barely passed is still there when they make a right turn.
So sad that this might actually be a good solution!?
I refuse to own a car with a screen of any type…
Save maybe a wind screen.
Backup cameras are pretty handy.
Only if you don’t know how to backup in the first place.
I’m tellin’ ya, sonny – in my day we were taught how to drive, park, and backup! If it was good enough in 1978, its good enough now! 😉

just one or two cat movies will be enough: play in a loop.

I would have thought this was a joke if I hadn’t recently seen http://www.cyclechat.net/threads/wearables-to-enhance-cyclists-safety.197571/
