“Was it him driving …. or his wife?”  Who do we know is a married couple in this strip?
No …….. it *COULDN’T*  be Thistle or her so-far unseen and unnamed husband.  That’s just too far around the bend.

Gotta love the way the news even shocked the unibrow off of Joe.

I’m guessing it’s that councilman who was strangely tolerant of Yehuda’s guerilla biketivism

No way could it be Thistle: Joe would never have referred to Thistle as “his wife”, since she’s his point of reference in the relationship;indeed, her husband would be called “her husband”.

I, for one, am excited to see the local police issue their customary “we can’t prove who was driving” cop-out. (Cop-out, ha.)

If the car was registered in Thistle’s husband’s name, that’s the way the DMV records would have shown it; that’s how the police would have referred to it; and that’s how the newspaper would have reported it.  Remember, none of them — the DMV, the cops, or the newspapers — would have any reason to know about Thistle or that she works at the shop.

But Joe and Yehuda would, and would be able to make the connection between Mr. Gin and Thistle.

    And as an aside —
And we *HAVE* seen the car before….

The local town official? Don’t remember his name. Or Thistle’s husband.

I may be reading too much into this…we all probably are. But, when Yehuda finds out who’s car it is(and I’m assuming that’s what they’re talking about), Yehuda says: “Joe-” in small letters in comparison to the rest of the strip. That reads to me like it’s someone REAL close, but not so close that they didnt already see them in the shop. Time has passed to the point a paper has been put out identifying the owner of the car. The way i reason that is if it were Kevlar, or the recumbant guy, or anyone else outside the family, I think Yehuda would have screamed “JOE!!” and ran accross the shop to tell him the news. Instead I see it as “joe…(unfortunatly it was someone we trusted dearly and they didnt speak up)”

This is getting interesting and suspenseful, I hope we’ll know tomorrow and Rick&Brian will not leave us hanging until Monday. Guys, please don’t do that

    Most excellent recall. Thanks. Bob

I’ll be honest — it wasn’t actually recall.  I was flipping through my copy of “Yehuda” volume 1 trying to find out if Thistle’s husband had ever been given a name and stumbled across it.

You’d think Fred would have turned bloody any time he was near Thistle (if it were her or her husband)…
