Readers,
We’ve been working feverishly to get everything done before I (Rick) head off to India for a month in December to visit family. Comics will continue to run throughout my absence and Volume 5 has been sent off to the printer for proofing. We’ve also sent off all holiday gift packs (Volumes 1 – 4) ordered via Kickstarter.
The Kickstand Cyclery will close in January. We have other projects we need to tend to in 2013, so no word as to when the daily comic will return to a regular schedule. We will be cancelling all subscriptions (annual and monthly) by November 15th… but rest assured – the comic will continue through December, 2012.
In February 2013, look forward to Volume 5 shipping to all Kickstarter patrons. You can order volume 5 (and any other book) while I’m out of town – your order will ship in January (except volume 5 orders, which will ship after the Kickstarter orders are fulfilled).
Please write if you have any questions – comics@yehudamoon.com.
Thanks for a great year and all your support!
Sincerely,
Rick Smith and Brian Griggs

December comics are good to go – can’t wait to run them.
I got sad when I read those lines.
But I can’t thank you enough for giving the Kickstand Cyclery to the world. I’ll keep, share and cherish my paper copies.
the year 2013 just got a lot darker for me.
Thank you for everything so far and good luck to your other projects!
It is good that you let us know in advance , so we have time to cope.
kind regards
Rikardo
Yes, I’ve learned from past mistakes not to spring news that the comic is stopping. Hopefully the next six weeks will be enough time for a graceful exit
Aw… after all these good changes:( And we’ve been through this before so I know how it feels. Sad. All the best to you Rick and Brian. Thanks for all you’ve done so far. Here is to hoping the Kickstand Cyclery will reopen some day!
Sad to read this, but it is a huge commitment and I have to say you are the best comic out there. Hope you come back at a future date. Safe travels in India. It is by bike, right? ;>)
Of course. Hero all the way! http://www.herocycles.com/jet2.htm
No New Year’s Day to celebrate
No Kickstand Cyclery to read each day
No first of spring
No song to sing
In fact here’s just another ordinary day
I just wrote to say I’ll miss you
I just wrote to say how much I care
I just wrote to say I’ll miss you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart
Thank you for 2012, good luck in whatever you are pursuing in 2013. Will the site still be up? If the site costs are not too high it might be worth it to start over from the beginning and re-run the strips every day. I have enjoyed my Calvin and Hobbs many times and would look forward to another year even if they are re-runs from 4 years ago. The compilation of tandems was also great; there are probably lots of subject threads that could be created.
Oh noes! Withdrawal again?
Thanks for all these years of fun stories Rick, and great comments from all of you.
Steve
Understandable, but still very sad to hear it. Yehuda and company are the first things I check in on after my ride to work. Thanks for all the great strips, and hope you have a great tour abroad!
Waaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
May you enjoy much good fortune in your future endeavors. I will miss the Kickstand very much. Thank you thank you for so many smiles and laughs these last years.
Does this mean I need to get a subscription to Bicycle Times to keep getting my Yehuda fix?
Wow – I didn’t see this coming. I just got an email from PayPal notifying me of the canceled subscription. My first thought was “what’d I do to upset Rick?” then quickly thought even worse…. Coming here just confirmed it.
Yehuda Moon has been my favorite morning diversion and I’m sure others would agree that we’d be willing to pay much more than the more-than-a-bargain $1 per month for it. But I know that if this were about money, the strip would have ended long ago.
So all I can do is add my ditto to all the other wonderful comments here. Yehuda Moon will certainly be missed – and I hope that someday he and his cohorts will return.
But if not, any chance the remaining story threads will be tied up by New Year’s? One can only hope!
Wishing you – Rick & Brian – all the very best of everything in your future endeavors. You should be very proud and happy with all the joy your talents have brought to so many people.
I found this comic years ago, enjoyed reading through the archives, but neglected to keep up with it until last month. Talk about timing. A shame it is ending, but what is there is good.
Hi, I am one of the silent readers since a year.
I really enjoy my daily dose of bicycle related comics each day, so for me it is a pity, that you will cancel it.
I want to thank you for the many comic strips you created and brought enjoyment for us.
I wish you both all the best of everything for your future.
<<First
. . . . Last>>

First line above should have read: First Previous Next with appropriate – but just as : and – and ( get automatically turned into an emoticon, the “Previous and Next” seem to have been automatically deleted… Oh well.
Rick – prayers and best wishes go with you, and appreciation for all your commitment and hard work over the years remains. Happy miles!
Very sorry to hear this. It’s a real shame.
Good luck with future endeavours. I’ll miss the Kickstand and its crew of characters.
Did I misunderstand? I doesn’t say it is going away forever, just that Rick and Brian have other projects going and there is “no word as to when the daily comic will return to a regular schedule”.
I will miss Yehuda while you are gone and will celebrate if/when it returns.
Enjoy your time off.
I will miss Yehuda and Thistle and the rest of the crowd. All the best to you, Rick and Brian, and is it wrong for me to hope that there’s another reprieve for the Kickstand crew?
Rick & Brian, best wishes to you and yours. I hope the December comics have one last image of Yehuda’s tire treads in the snow. Those were the ones that hooked me on the strip. Au revoir.
sad that it is ending. thanks for all the great strips
can anyone recommend any other good comics to read?
OOTS!

If you are a role-playing fan, it isa jolly good read…
(‘Giant in the Playground’ – not what it looks like
)
Oops – sorry – that is wrong. It is the next comic, not out yet. Embarrassment…
should be: ‘ http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0001.html ‘
Sad. Thanks for all the hard work Rick and I wish you a happy and prosperous future whatever you do.

Good luck gentlemen. Thanks for the comics, I’ll hope for a return again!

Yet AGAIN?
BTW, pick me up a nice Sari!
I just discovered the comic and invested my time in two marathon sessions to read it from the start! Just my luck…. And I’ve spoiled it for everyone…..
So long and thanks for all the fish.
Thanks for letting us know Rick.
I hope you enjoy India and that it will give you much material to come back with? (I say, Hopefully)
I wish you both a smooth road and a tailwind.
I will look out for your return, just in case. If you were to be able to email your supporters if/when you start posting new stuff, it will make it easier for us to return and re-start our monetry support.
I have greatly enjoyed all the strips and the support from yourselves and the commenters has helped me recover, immensly! You have my lifelong gratittude.
John Moss. Tencon.
Rick and Brian, I sure will miss the daily comic. The first thing I do once I arrive at the office is check in with the Kickstand. It sure has been a great ride. Thanks for the joy you have spread through the comic. You have a great talent for telling a story with your drawings. Carry on and I wish you the absolute best in whatever you do. Hope to see the Kickstand open again sometime.
I have been a fan of Rick’s comics since way back in the day.
Sawlogs was a tiny self-published dream journal-ish Rarebit Fiendy thing that got my goose and helped inspire me and many others to take up the pen and brush. Shuck has a cast easily as likeable and broad as Kickstand and far weirder. You should check it out! Maybe a bit more “Krazy Kat, as drawn by Alistair Crowley,” than “Cheers, as drawn by Grant Peterson.”
Look, all I’m trying to say is that I have loved Kickstand Cyclery and Smith’s cartooning since day one and I am sure I’ll continue to seek it out until every last panel has been posted or printed.
As a Yehuda lookalike and thinkalike, as a bike enthusiast, cycling advocate and car buster I’ll miss this daily strip just as much as all the many many many readers who love it. But at least we know these creative folks are still creating and at least we’ve still got the thousands of hours of fun of rereading the entire run and sharing them with each other ahead of us.
Thanks for being such a good cartoonist, Rick Smith.
Congratulations on being such success.
Well said Davey
Wishing you – Rick & Brian – all the very best of everything in 2013! Will you be back later in 2013 like Feb or Jun? Look forward to vol 5 in Feb thanks for all the laughs!
Thanks for the comics. They’ve been making my day and I’m sorry to read that you’ll no longer continue. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass

So, I must be on my way
And face another day
