Yehuda Moon works at the Kickstand Cyclery, lives on his bicycle and dreams of a day when everyone does likewise.
The comic strip is about two guys who run a bike shop and the challenges they face in the store and on the road. Yehuda‘s the utilitarian advocate; Joe‘s the go-fast pragmatist. Thistle Gin, a wrench and biking mom, rounds them out.

I often wished that I could have done that when at school!
I did the thermometer by the light bulb trick once and heard my mom say: “104F??? you don’t feel that warm”… Guess who was in school that day???
When I was living in Honolulu, we often had Surf-Sick days when waves were too good to pass up
The kid’s hands look like mine feel when playing guitar – I have remarkably thick fingertips that make it very difficult to finger chords on standard fingerboards. My new guitar had to have a ‘Classical Guitar’ width neck to accomodate me! It took me months to find a supplier that could manage a classical nut on a ‘Les Paul’-type guitar! I need to spend a lot of time trying different ‘fingerings’ on some chords and they change in different parts of the neck. So no sliding chord shapes…
The kid’s Yehuda, isn’t it? The black-and-white is the filter of reminiscence…
And maybe he was like a puppy and “grew into” his hands!
@ Tencon – have you considered trying the hurdy gurdy? (eg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjyAA-kRZaw )
Or an open tuning, perhaps with a steel (stele?) or bottleneck?
I have hands like this.
The good news? I can mount/dismount any tire (yes, even Schwabe Marathon Plus) with my bare hands.
The bad news? Cannot touch type.

Yehuda daydreaming about his past again.
New story arc? Cake!
More like a continuation of an old story arc, me thinks… that’s his old boss from around here in the strips: http://www.yehudamoon.com/index.php?date=2011-08-05
I used to call in “healthy.” I told my boss it was too nice a day and I felt too good not to go to the beach. It worked once…
Why does he have a noose around his neck, and what is it?
It looks like a late-’70s early ’80s era w-i-d-e tie. I still have a couple in my closet, just to show how often I wear one. I have ties that are on their third cycle of fashion (currently “out”) I have a paisley tie I wear when I want to show the interviewer “I’m wearing a tie that’s older than you, and I don’t care, I don’t even want to be wearing a tie in the first place”
I like ties, and miss having the opportunity to wear one often.
I have taken a vow to NEVER wear a necktie again – and encourage EVERY male to do the same. They are the mark of the male slave.
Slightly more seriously, what’s up with the odd lighting?
If you look back and some of the older strips, the black-and-white panes indicate that this is a flashback in time. This is showing Yehuda back in his coorporate (or was it government?) days.
The B&W I know about. I’m talking about the lighting itself – it looks like there is some kind of spotlight – or light pouring through a window/door, etc. Cuts right across the character’s faces.
I called in once to say I was running late but decided to be cute and told my boss I had eye trouble. He asked what kind and I said I just couldn’t see coming in to work today! He said to get some rest and he’d see me tomorrow. Not believeing my luck I did as he said!
I think this comic is irresponsible because it promotes the image of cyclists as slackers. Also, Yehuda does not have a helmet. This is irresponsible!
Yehuda IS an irresponsible slacker. Haven’t you been reading?
Don’t worry about the promotion of the image, Its likely that the outstanding majority of readers are cyclists.
