Yehuda Moon works at the Kickstand Cyclery, lives on his bicycle and dreams of a day when everyone does likewise.
The comic strip is about two guys who run a bike shop and the challenges they face in the store and on the road. Yehuda‘s the utilitarian advocate; Joe‘s the go-fast pragmatist. Thistle Gin, a wrench and biking mom, rounds them out.

Oh man, I know exactly how that feels.
Same here – summer has finally arrived in the UK (alongside Tour de France victory! : ) and at last we had a weekend of hot sunny weather. Blue skies, green hills, clear air, beautiful riding.
And massive congratulations to Wiggo, Cav and the team.
It’s been a crazy wierd summer here in Northern California, yesterday it was 102F and this morning it was raining. Also, congrats to Wiggo being the first Englishman to win Le Tour!!!
Although I only really noticed it while I had stopped.
It’s as if suddenly automated cooler shuts off …
Wish Rick had done this one last week, I’d have posted it on the RAGBRAI board (ragbrai.com).
As a reference for those who don’t know — today (Monday) is the second day of the 40th annual Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI); and take it from a guy who’s been there, some years it’s like this only worse.
For that weather, you need long-sleeved woolen underwear!
It’s muggy and warm in south Minnesota.
Stay hydrated out there…!
One of my best imaginary friends (from a bike forum, although I know him in RL too) had a heart attack at mile 8 of RAGBRAI yesterday. Today he’s undergoing a triple bypass. He says he still plans to eat pie before he heads home to Michigan.
Platy, who was that? What forum did he post to, and under what handle?
Glad to hear it wasn’t fatal; and I’ll keep my fingers crossed that the bypass surgery goes well.
At least he’s not being a drip…
Water u thinking? You should be gushing about this pun! I know that there’s a fountain of knowledge out there to pool from. Jump in!
What’s up strangers? Long time no chat!
Yes. Congrats to Wiggins, Froome, the Manx Missile et al! What a great Tour it was this year! Roll on the Olympics and more success!
Went for a ride this morning and saw at least six mamils on brand new carbon wonders in full Team Sky kit!
A tip of my cycling cap to the GBR riders. Well done.
And I must say I feel as Yuhuda looks when I’m on the commute home in the +100° temperatures we’ve had for the last few weeks.
Mamils?
Middle Aged Men In Lyrca
Is this new ‘Lyrca’ some sort of wonder-fabric that cools us down?
Did everyone here see this: http://www.yehudamoon.com/images/promotion/cover_5.gif We’re beginning work on Volume 5!
Sweet!!
Joe… salt water kills plants (except for mother in-laws tongue)
On a ride last week, I was riding into the wind. When I turned down a side street the sweat was no longer being blown back and evaporating. Instead it began to stream down my face and flooded my eyes. I was struggling to keep my eyes open and what I could see was a total blur. Somenow, I was near home and managed to find my way home- by braille perhaps. I’ve begun carrying a shop rag. When I find that I need to use it, I slip it under my helmet aftrer I’ve cleared Niagara Falls off my forehead. It might look funny, but it works.
Walz caps are great to keep the sweat out of the eyes. They are also an advertiser on these pages.

Happily, I can avoid sweating excessively by slowing down my efforts and reducing my insulation. A little antipersperant on the worst parts of my chest helps too…
Good for you!
Just recently I´ve read an article somewhere, claiming that women in general tend to sweat less than men. Similar article here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/8048508/Men-perspire-and-women-glow-science-proves.html#
Fran McHugh: what works well for me are cycling gloves with some special wicking fabric on the back of the hands (upper side), which is a detail designed especially for that purpose (I guess). Not that much “sweat capacity” as a rag, of course… but you have something to wipe your face always at hand, literally, in fact.
If he was riding an efficient bike like his Coventry he’d sweat a lot less at the same speed. Just sayin’.
