Activists can be much like that…  Today, I fired off an email (complete with all previous attempts) to get ADAAG non-compliant grates to the last round of recipients and a few more newspapers.  Policy makers, should take note.  We don’t go away until something gets done, then we come back for more.  Best policy?  Do it right the first time!

We are Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us. We are Grate Watchers.

      :)
(Just a joke that came to my mind, maybe stupid. NO intention whatsoever to mock your activities in any way, K´Tesh. I highly respect what you are doing and wish you good luck.)

A couple of other little known facts — Bikes do get jealous, and they talk to each other.

So if you have more than one bike, make sure you try to spread your riding time evenly between the bikes in your stable.  Otherwise one or more of them will start to feel neglected and become envious of your new favorite.  It will communicate this to the rest of your mounts, leading to disharmony, discontent, and perhaps even acts of disloyalty if not outright mutiny among the rest of your bikes…with the result that you will experience strange noises, unexplained flat tires, and mysterious mechanical glitches that will come and go seeming at random whenever you ride one of the other bicycles.

And God help you if you sell off one or two of the stable . . . . . . .

actually my bikes understand that they’ve each got a specific use and will only see use when that need arises.  in the case of one, which was my daily driver for years, it’s just as well as she’s tired and old and just fine sleeping in the garage.  The folder understands she’s a rare-use bike and of course that leaves winter and summer who each get used accordingly.

I sometimes find just the opposite, especially when it comes to maintenance. Case in point, this weekend, when I finally got around to installing my new brake pads. Also took the opportunity to wipe the bike down clean, clean and lube the chain, and Proofide my Brooks B17. Bike was looking cleaner and riding better than it had for MONTHS.

Next day, commute home from work, POP, broke a spoke on the rear wheel. Replaced and trued it up at home, but this is not the first time that meaningful maintenance one day is followed in quick order by some other unrelated issue. It’s as if it likes the attention and is begging for more…

Who’s Yehuda Moon?

Yehuda Moon works at the Kickstand Cyclery, lives on his bicycle and dreams of a day when everyone does likewise.

The comic strip is about two guys who run a bike shop and the challenges they face in the store and on the road. Yehuda‘s the utilitarian advocate; Joe‘s the go-fast pragmatist. Thistle Gin, a wrench and biking mom, rounds them out.
