Yehuda Moon works at the Kickstand Cyclery, lives on his bicycle and dreams of a day when everyone does likewise.
The comic strip is about two guys who run a bike shop and the challenges they face in the store and on the road. Yehuda‘s the utilitarian advocate; Joe‘s the go-fast pragmatist. Thistle Gin, a wrench and biking mom, rounds them out.

So true, Joe. John D Public will go to the big box stores first unless batted in the head with the you-have-a-LBS stick.
They’ll go to the Internet first unless batted in the head with the your-extra-few-££-buys-you-personal-service-at-the-LBS stick!
I went to the internet first. Found what I liked, took it to my LBS and begged them to order it in. They did. The next year that style of bike exploded onto the market and the LBS I’d gone to had first crack at the fad (cruiser bikes a decade ago).
Excellent reasoning from Joe today!
Oh my, was my ride this morning chilly! The “three ice men” hit hard this year!
Joe, don’t make me fish slap you…

Thanks for the links K’Tesh – I just spent a wonderful time watching clips of outtakes etc from ‘Big Bang Theory’ (Featured in the sidebar links) BBT is my favourite show!
Top tip for anyone who’s ended up with the job of writing your shop’s advertising copy for the local paper:
ALWAYS include a voucher that people have to cut out & bring to the shop if they want your special offer. This usually DOUBLES the advert’s ROI.
Whoever’s doing the design work will hate you for making their beautiful piece of art look like it just wants to attract customers, but in return for customers, I’ll put up with their whining!
These are the kind of moments that Yehuda is so naieve and stupid that he’s annoying. He has obviously gone to great efforts to never grow up.
Look for an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on reddit’s /r/bicycling tomorrow, 05/18/2012… Rick Smith and Brian Griggs answer your questions about Yehuda Moon and the Kickstand Cyclery. http://www.reddit.com/r/bicycling/
Oh man. Ask Brian ANYTHING? And it’s on Reddit no less *wrings hands together in pure joy*. So Brian, Steel Reserve or mad dog at bike night?
Boxers or Briefs?
MacOS or Windows? Coke or Pepsi? Which Top Gear Host is cutest? (Or “least annoying, anyway.)
I hate coupons. They’re a gimmick. I don’t trust stores that offer coupons, because they’re disingenuous. Stores issue coupons in hope that they’d lure customers, but that customers will actually forget the coupons or bring them in after they’ve expired. Otherwise, they’d just lower the prices and make their offers more permanent.
Good ride for all tomorrow who are participating in Squeeky Chain Day, AKA the National Bike to Work Day.
I found this when following the link above and going along the ‘chain’ of links….

So honored to have had the Great Lakes Courier appear at the Kickstand! Thanks Rick and Brian! And it was great to see / meet you the other day signing books. As I said, much as I love the internet, it’s so much nicer to read the flow of comics in print with no CRT, no waiting for the day’s comic to load. I’m re-reading Kickstand History, one print volume at a time.
