A nobelman who was being attacked by bandits took refuge in the shrine and the bandits respected the shrine and ceased trying to rob him. Thinking that this was a sign from God the nobleman declared Ghisallo a Madonna and finagled the Church to leave the shrine alone, eevntually to have her declared the patron saint of travellers. When the Catholic Church was rearrainging the deck chairs on the Titanic after WWII Ghisallo was moved from general travellers to cyclists...
