Remember, we have not seen his eyes, so the cap is essential for a face view.

Not since the flashbacks to his civic planing/property development days at least.

I was riding on the moon one day…
in the Merry Merry Month of May(March)…
When much to my surprise, a pair of bonny eyes…

(sorry about that, guys, but today may be March)

Hey, it’s the first time I recognize that a part of the comic is a link – easter egg or more common? Or even product placement? ;)

@Kathse: Your comment prompted me to try, and yes, there’s more than one liink in the strip.

Rats! I shall now be spending vast tracts of time going over old strips to see if they have hyperlinks too…..

They had a link to Surly’s page the last time the comic featured a Fat Bike. Only time I recall it happening.

Surly’s distributer for Germany and Austria is named
        “Cosmic sports”
so it fits very good ;-)

wondering if the pneus are doing fine, .. whats the max pressure you can put in ?
guess co2 cartridges sell like hot cakes up there.

      @holodri:
1 bar less compared to riding on Earth’s surface. As the “max pressure” wirtten to the tyre is positive pressure, not absolute. Earth’s athmosphere at sealevel provides aproxx. 1 bar (depending on weather), so a tyre filled to ’7 bar’ contains 8 bar of absolute pressure.
In vacuum absolute pressure is equal to positive pressure.

        close, but no cigar.
the temperature on the moon ranges between -150C and 120C so i guess it expands up to a level of interest. if you fill in 7bar in the ‘early morning’ its probably blown before your first pee stop.

The tires on the original moon lander are actually made of zinc wires woven together.  In addition to the obvious issues of running a pneumatic tire in a vacuum, rubber doesn’t do well in temperature extremes.  It will get very hard and brittle at low temp, and become near liquid at high temp.

I love today’s strip.  Has anyone claimed Rick’s prize bike yet.  I know I didn’t.

Amusing to see Yehuda drooling over the Surly catalog.  I hope Rick got some extra $$$ for that.  I noticed the Surly-esque mega-fat-tire bike in the previous strip but didn’t kow there was a link.

Yeah, it makes me wonder if he has a product placement deal. I mean, there’s Salsa Mukluk but not as much love.

I didn’t realized on the link neither the name of the catalog till I read the comments, nevertheless   just the name of the bike was enough to me to think on surly :) :)

In a “surly cycling world” :

Thristle will ride a big dummy for sure.

Yehuda  (on earth) will ride a long haul tracker

    Sister sprocket a steamroller
    Joe  a Pacer
and what about bike ninja….  I guess will be  riding a conundrum !!! :P

Could have done the LEM in the background and a bicycle pulled trailer.

We don’t need no stinking Auto (rover).

Great title for today’s strip!  I just hope that Rick and Brian are going to leave the face-sucking alien embryos out of the story line. ;-)

The drawing of Yehuda bunnyhopping the bike on moon is a copy of a early 90ies ad for True Temper. Angle of bike is exactly the same…

Who’s Yehuda Moon?

Yehuda Moon works at the Kickstand Cyclery, lives on his bicycle and dreams of a day when everyone does likewise.

The comic strip is about two guys who run a bike shop and the challenges they face in the store and on the road. Yehuda‘s the utilitarian advocate; Joe‘s the go-fast pragmatist. Thistle Gin, a wrench and biking mom, rounds them out.
