Yehuda Moon works at the Kickstand Cyclery, lives on his bicycle and dreams of a day when everyone does likewise.
The comic strip is about two guys who run a bike shop and the challenges they face in the store and on the road. Yehuda‘s the utilitarian advocate; Joe‘s the go-fast pragmatist. Thistle Gin, a wrench and biking mom, rounds them out.

Bike shop in my home town (Buzz’s Bikes, La Crosse WI) *does* sell canoes and kayaks…….
REI has several local shops here, and they sell canoes and kayaks.
This strip reminds me of cycling here in Sydney, Australia at the moment. With the La Nina cycle we’ve had a very, very cool and wet summer! Why did I not buy that new raincape when I had the chance?
I love the look on Joe’s face!
Not to get too technical, Yehuda, but what you’re rocking there is a snorkel, not scuba gear.
That’s not too technical, that’s just plain right! We’ve changed it… Send us a note at comics@yehudamoon.com, we want to send you a thank you.
Now I’m curious… What did you change it from? Kickstand Snorkelry is genius… possibly better than whatever it said before (certainly better than “Kickstand Scubery”, if that’s what it was).
“Kickstand Scubulry” I think?
Scooby-Doo-oooooooooo!!!!!!!!
*sorry* – someone HAD to!
2011 in Cleveland was the year of standing water. I’ve lived here forever and have never seen that much rain.
Reader “BC”: If you’re reading today, please write us at comics@yehudamoon.com. A Kickstand Club member purchased a year subscription for you last week! We want to send you your username and password.
Oh my! I´m deeply moved. In all the bleak circumstances of the past few months with a little to find some joy in, this means the more to me. Not only the subscription itself, but the fact that someone cares about a stranger in this way…
Dear “Donor”, THANK YOU! And I hope that by the end of this year, I’ll be in a better situation, so that I would be able to pay for my and YOUR subscription for the next year, to return the courtesy. Seriously, mark my words. Thank you!
(Rick, an email follows).
Or pay it forward! And, no, I’m not “Donor.”

Ever see your pores after a hard rain ride??? … It’s a free exfoliation.
Even beter after a hail storm! I was stuck between off-ramps on a motorcycle once with an open face helmet and thin leather gloves. 60 mph into pea-sized hail stripped the top 2 layers of flesh from my face and pommeled my fingers so badly that I had trouble getting the gloves off of my swollen digits!
At least on the bicycle the forward velocity is not added to the terminal veloicty of the precip.
Of course it is! Just try a ride in heavy rain or a grit storm to try it out…
Can I just say that the subscription is totally worth it!
Since I purchased a pair of Keen “Austin Pedal” SPD compatible, normal looking shoes, I’ve (re)discovered the pleasure of getting about nearby for errands and events in regular clothing. It’s a true pleasure to be able to just walk into a restaurant without having to change my shoes! However even a light rain deters me, putting on and taking off my rain pants & coat seems like more trouble than it’s worth for a short ride and just leaving them on defeats the purpose of looking normal.I wonder if a rain cape is the right solution for this dillema.
Or maybe fenders? A rain jacket would be considered normal clothing if it is raining, and fenders will keep your legs dryer. I think this would work at least in light rain.
Yeah, fenders and a jacket are all you really need. Rain isn’t a problem if you prepare a bit. Go slow to keep the sweat down and you’ll be fine.
I do have fenders on all my bikes, but my pants get soaked *above* the knees in anything much past a light mist. I really am thinking a rain cape like Yehuda’s would be the solution. Anybody out there with experience with them?
Maybe you need a Mango to get out of the rain?

Unless you live in the dessert, rain jacket is the most important winter cycling garment
Just saw the bonus comic… Cute!
I love how in the bonus comic, Yehuda was the only one able to bridge the gap.
I just don’t understand what they’re talking about in the first frame; part of the dialogue is cut off….
I think it is fairly irrelevant WHAT they are talking about – just a group of mates chatting nonsense that bores Joe…
In the bonus comic, are those Ergo brifters for a Campy gruppo? I rocked a Centaur gruppo on the show bike I built back in 2004 (built as in welded/brazed the frame tubes, laced the rims to the hubs, chased and face the head tube and BB shell, hauled the finished frame to the powdercoater on the bus…)
Rain? What rain?
In my town, its freezing… (about -10°C / 14°f during the day, less at night) and its getting rare to see any water in its fluid form outside.
The river looks like this (yesterday’s picture): http://img.geocaching.com/cache/large/35847b74-036c-4feb-a7ce-18e9f53f9c5d.jpg
Ok… that is… what is that???

By the way, this is the first time I post logged-in under an account – thanks to my “anonymous patron”, as Rick named him/her. I’d like to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH! again to that person, hope you read it, in case you missed my thanks earlier.
Bonus comic? What is required to view this and where is it?
