Yehuda Moon works at the Kickstand Cyclery, lives on his bicycle and dreams of a day when everyone does likewise.
The comic strip is about two guys who run a bike shop and the challenges they face in the store and on the road. Yehuda‘s the utilitarian advocate; Joe‘s the go-fast pragmatist. Thistle Gin, a wrench and biking mom, rounds them out.

FREEBIE COMIC: There’s the Cat!!! Yay Fenders!
Kitchen sink… nice one Guys!
Isn’t the cat named Rustle-Pop? ; )
Regular Comic: Right now, it’s not seeing your breath that’s the problem… it’s holding it while waiting to surface again. Snorkle Anyone?
This is the second week you’ve pre-empted a strip, K’Tesh! And that one was originally going to appear today. Look for it on February 16th.
Sorry…
I guess if you spend enough time in the saddle, you get a feel for the issues that everybody’s destined to experience.
I used to think of days like that as emulating a steam engine – I am old enough to have seen and traveled by steam-powered trains!
Maybe the day is coming when steam will return, but not in the same form of course!
——————————————————————————————-
We have known that Fenders likes to sleep in the BoH but this is the first time we have seen him displaced I think
Note the pipe? is that for Yehuda or a spare for SS?
Now – Apart from the tools - Harmonica/Blues Harp and ‘Cup & Ball game’ both things to pass the time when waiting etc . . . Does Yehuda spend a lot of time ‘not busy’? NB: Neither can be used safely when riding!
In a way most electric locomotives run on steam even today since the vast majority of thermal electrical generation plants use steam turbines to spin the generators!
Hold on a minute – is that a naked woman in the background of the two frames with Joe? And meanwhile he’s munching crisps and watching a gameshow….
That’s Joe’s Mary, Joe’s married
(pun by Yehuda & Thistle, Sept. 2010). Mary is very slim (see Sept. 2010).
But yes, it looks like she’s wearing not much of a dress in those 2 frames …
Joe’s wife is Hot.
@Rick:
all of a sudden comments are turned “upside down”, meaning new comments are added to the top of the page.
AFAIR there had been a discussion about how to sort comments a year or something ago – and it turned out that most people read from top downwards … that is older comments on top, newer comments to bottom.
I think, it’d be a good idea to put Bicycle Times comics online at weekends (club members only) to give them their own page.
Wolfgang,
The Bicycle Times comics will appear permanently under the ‘Freebies, Discounts’ link in the Kickstand Club menu that appears in the upper righthand corner of every page (once you’re logged in). We’re just promoting it here today.
Each month, the comments revert to their natural state when my subscription renews. I usually catch it and reset it before anyone notices. It should appear normally now.
I think it’s really cool to see the hot dense breath coming from soemone exercising out in the cold! Ever watch NFL and notice the steam rising from a player’s head sitting on the sidelines out in the cold? Now that’s exertion….
Breath’s not the only thing that gets steamy. Even if I hold my breath, my glasses fog up at stoplights from the moisture of my eyes alone!
Years and years ago at an optical trade fair I saw some spec. frames with battery powered windscreen wipers. But of course they just wiped rain(/snow?) off the outside – wouldn’t do anythig about condensation inside. I had the same problem a couple of days ago after a charity dip in the river.
You need sth like this: http://inventorspot.com/articles/solar_powered_fan_hat_wearable_gadget_looks_and_feels_cool_24822 but
wipe your glasses with soapy water. that wont stop the condensation process but its transparent at least coz the condensated water is in form of a film and not countless little drops
I found ski goggles work well when riding.
The Bicycle Tip also applies to inadequate locks, and, since all locks are inadequate . . .
Monday started to be the one day of the week someone like me behind the pay-wall could know what the discussion is about. Now with the additional freebie comics, even this seems to be lost. Oh, well…
I’m not sure I understand…
He means that since he can’t see the strip from “Bicycle Times”, our discussion of it is as meaningless to him as our discussion of the members only strips all the other days of the week. I can sympathize, I too have been on budgets so tight that even a buck a month was too much to spend on a discretionary purchase.
Thanks for explaining.
Pardon me if I don”t make myself clear, as a] English is not my native language b) I may be missing some of the context these days. The note was just a sigh…
Are the freebie “bonus” strips an everyday feature, or just some days?
Finally, a buck may seem a little, but again a) I’ve been without an income since October and b) the payment for me is a bit complicated (technically) – not that there isn’t a solution, but at the moment not worth the hassle.
Anyway – Rick, thanks for the comics (you have provided me, us, with more than a lot for free in tha past years) and you others – have fun.
The Freebie Comics will appear weekly until we’ve run through all of the Bicycle Times Magazine strips from 2011. They’ll be promoted here, but reside permanently on the ‘Freebies and Discounts’ page in the Kickstand Club.
