Yehuda Moon works at the Kickstand Cyclery, lives on his bicycle and dreams of a day when everyone does likewise.
The comic strip is about two guys who run a bike shop and the challenges they face in the store and on the road. Yehuda‘s the utilitarian advocate; Joe‘s the go-fast pragmatist. Thistle Gin, a wrench and biking mom, rounds them out.

Well done K’Tesh!
That’s not a bike path but a bike removal location …
It’s a damn shame that it takes people like K’Tesh to draw attention to this kind of hazardous situations.
Excellent work! Now, when you refer to ”marking paint” and “striping paint,” how do you know the difference? Is the marking paint water based or something?
Says it on the label… Striping (permanent)

Marking (designed to fade)
http://rustoleum.com/cbgimages/products/PRImsYelSpL.jpg
Striping paint is the paint used to mark say parking lots. Marking paint is the stuff that utilities use to mark what’s underground for digging projects. They designed it to fade quickly so people wouldn’t be seeing it all the time
Thanks, K’Tesh!
K’Tesh – Are those actually marked as bike lanes? The one on SW Hall looks like a shoulder, and a generally poorly maintained one too. With tires as skinny as those on that Specialized bike, I wouldn’t want to ride to the right of that stripe.
Yes, that is a marked bike lane.
I could really go crazy trying to imagine just what might be on the little plates beneath the mounted “heads”.
Time to start guessing?
OK, what is “Your Auto Safari”? It took a while to figure out the Lauterbrunner Leaflet; is Auto Safari a hidden reference to a real publication?
I’m taking Auto Safari as a play on traditional big game hunting. My own choice is to just avoid the tusks, feet and under-tail region of our local elephants.
ah….Yahuda doust strike at the windmills….
Then a twinkle grew in his buckshot eye,
“Lied to you…tricked you?” He said “Not I…
for I answered straight and told you true.
The scaffold was raised for none but you.”

I’m guessing it’s intended to be like a Jane’s guide, except for automobiles.
An H2, a Ford F-150/-250somesuch A Pontiac and a and a Chevy are faithfully recreated. Bumpers are indeed detachable, and the headlights often attach to the bumper, but not to the plastic covering but to a metal frame. I’d have to recheck my FSM to use the correct car jargon.
On my Xterra, he’d have to come in from below or pop the bumper loose and unbolt the plastic bumper housing from the vehicle, then unbolt the headlight assembly from the frame of the vehicle and detach both. It might be easier/harder on other vehicles.
Update:
H2/H3 grille, custom? It looks like a H2/H3, but the grille is supposed to run up and down and not side-to-side, though one is available aftermarket.
F-140 grille
Pontiac G6 grille
Chevrolet Equinox, second gen grille
Some of them look like they have a bit of side panel beyond the headlights, when in fact removing such would probably require welding skills.
The http://www.lurvely.com/photo/1580455/The_Pinto_Pelt/ is still up at Cermak Plaza. Unfortunately, the Berwyn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spindle_(sculpture) at the same shopping center was taken down due to rust and Walgreens wanting to build in the center of the parking lot.
The second link needs the closing bracket in the url to work.

This is a situation where I’m unhappy the strips are behind a paywall: I know a guy who was hit by a car while he was jogging, and he was fine. The car’s front bumper was damaged. I can no longer share this strip with him. (He’s amazingly strapped for cash right now, and I’m almost certain he’s not a club member.)
I’m not complaining, the strip’s creators clearly need to be reimbursed, and I’m glad to do so. That’s far more important than my ability to share a funny comic.
But it’s too bad I can’t share this with my friend.
Err, right click, save image as, email?
That’s how I started collecting the strips then realised I could buy the books instead!
We’re okay with this.
I’m not a subscriber yet, but when I am it will be like the day I first discovered this strip – hours of awesome entertainment. Until then, I’ll settle for my once-a-week fix.
Ah, I assumed that one should link to content and not pass it around, but if Rick’s cool with it, well then, okay! (Yes, I know how to put a graphic in an email, thank you @guest!)
So pumped this is back on, can’t for for SS first appearance and “forest city” references!
Good one Rick and Brian!
