Yehuda Moon works at the Kickstand Cyclery, lives on his bicycle and dreams of a day when everyone does likewise.
The comic strip is about two guys who run a bike shop and the challenges they face in the store and on the road. Yehuda‘s the utilitarian advocate; Joe‘s the go-fast pragmatist. Thistle Gin, a wrench and biking mom, rounds them out.

Amen Brother Moon!!!
What was i debating and proving yesterday? Oh yeah, gotta lean into this turn to avoid this tree stump..
Oh my I usually do this sometimes! A simple ride turns into a nightmare trying to remember everything like check air pressure, what if I get a flat, etc!
Great thinking! All go out and enjoy!
Gotta ‘bent I can use while my wrist is out of commission?
Careful……….you may get to like the laid back experience……
Someone just offered to loan me a Rans ‘Bent…
I love you folks!
Thanks!
Get a Mango – you only need one hand with one of those?
That works for me too !!
No matter how I feel, when I wheel my bicycle out the door of my flat, I win. Happy to be in like company.
I’ll be leaving for work in a few. Driving, yet. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
But at least it will be a short day. And I got my choice of four nice bikes when I get back home.
Hang in there, soldier.
Yep.
i was sitting on the couch at a party ealier tonight and not enjoying the company very much. then i looked down at my legs and lamented not seeing a bike there.
I easily can see myself in the same situation, except that I’d more likely be looking at my hands and lamenting not seeing a book there. But my bike would solve that problem too, since I always have at least one book in the saddle bag.
Oh yeah, the the three R’s: Readin’, Ridin’, ‘Rithmatic. (You’re counting pages,… right?)
That’s a great image – A Centaur with a bike for legs!
wisdom!
Great strip today. Speaks volumes in four short panels.
it would have been even better without Yehuda speaking in the last frame.
One thing to add though: biking in NYC is never like that. You are constantly screening for cars and pedestrians spontaneously driving/walking into the bike lane. So happy to be back home in Berlin…..aaaah
Perfect!
That is how it works.
This works even better on a Flevobike, it’s like flying to work.
Electrically-assisted piece of drainpipe-type Flevobike or the old type with front wheel drive?
(NOTE: Joke!)
That’s the thing about cyclists – Motorists usually drive because they HAVE to while we ride because we WANT to?
Today, in Coventry, it is raining hard, at last!
To ride in that you have to WANT to – if you only NEED to it isn’t as much fun?
Well, I currently do not own a car, so I “have” to cycle. No punishment at all especially since I don’t have to fear bad weather in my velomobile. Riding for fun is best in good weather though.
I like the way that his negative thoughts have black shaded bubbles. Good idea, Rick and Brian!
I’m a “need to” cyclist, as my boss has certain expectations about me showing up at work. But getting the body outside is just good for physical and mental health. For more information about how cycling is a theraputic cure for clinical depression, see:

When the spirits are low,
when the day appears dark,
when work becomes monotonous,
when hope hardly seems worth having,
just mount a bicycle
and go out for a spin down the road,
without thought on anything
but the ride you are taking.
— Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Nice one Sherlock!
Amen, Yehuda. My life is going through a rough patch currently and it is easy to get in the “woes and lows”…but I can get on a bike and pedal those blues into submission in no time. It beats “better living through chemicals” anytime! (unless those chemicals include hops, yeast and barley…!)
Funny to see how many Dutch people like this comic.
I really like to ride a velomobile especially for the long distance polder rides.
Very nice poem by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
My 1st thought was “Amen” echoed in the FIRST comment, which raised another!
The Conan Doyle poem was a delight.
I get to lead the 2nd regular Saturday Ride Around Winslow in a couple of hours. We do it every Saturday when the weather is nice.My bride & I do it all year ’round, but with very little company when the temperature drops below freezing….
Later we will take a group of kids to Cottonwood (Dead Horse Ranch State Park) for a MTB class taught by Randy Victory – ex-racer and park ranger. Fun Stuff! It is IMPOSSIBLE to stay glum while bombing down the trail! OTOH, going up can be hard work!!!)
Where does he live that he’s riding in short trousers? Can’t be NE Ohio…
@Bruce: Sure it can. I’m in Kent, Ohio, & if there’s no precipitation, I always see some folks running around in “summer gear,” t-shirts, flip-flops & cargo-shorts. Then again, Kent’s a college town.
Then there’s the rides where you get caught out having to get home in the rain, think ‘oh well, at least it doesn’t happen that often and I’ve got dry stuff to change into’, set off, and instantly break out into a ear-to-ear grin which lasts the rest of the ride.
Incidentally, just proof read this before hitting ‘post’ and found I’d broken out into a ear-to-ear gran. She sends her love.
Truer words, etc… I’m out right now — in the gentle rain — doing Saturday morning shopping and errands. Lovely. Calm and peaceful.
All is right with the world when I hear the whir of the chain and hummm of my tires on the black top…
Here comes the sun, do do do do do… and I say, it’s all right……
Rode the bike to work today for the first time!
Keep it up, might become a lifelong obsession?
Welcome to the club!
Amen, Yehuda! Thanks, Rick!
I was just thinking the other day that nothing is as peacefull as an early morning bike commute
Well, there’s always the early morning ride that does not end at a work place but rather meaders where and and as long as it wants.
