I live in an area where many innocent bystanders are killed each year by gangbangers who never learn to aim their weapons properly and generally graze their target while killing children and old folks. In this case, a man was killed for actually committing some sort of tort against another man's property. Excessive, but again, on the continuum of violence, it's actually not that horrific.  You can quarrel with the proportionality of it, but at least we are moving away from senseless violence here.
