    @Mike Schwab

    Hmm, hummer h1…
    you remember that big t-rex from jurassic park (can’t remember which number) you know the one with spikes on it’s back? thats the hummer H-1, it totally owned the t-rex in that movie :)

    @Rick
    you made a humorous analogy whether you meant to or not. It fits to give dinosaurs names to cars cuz those same dinosaurs are whats pushin em all along. Ah the circle of life: grass grows, antalope eats grass, lion eats antalope, lion craps to feed grass,….finally lion dies, turns into oil and makes all the cars go vroom vroom. My nephews and nieces love that bedtime story. :)

    @ fireraisr,

    KIM! way cool! I am in Cedar Rapids. I will try to get the show! Podcast it and I can record it for my drive! shoot.

    Anyway, Dino names…My Kenworth will now be living under the name of Ultrasaurus! Personally I would call the Minivan a Stegosaur or maybe an Alankysaur or one of teh smaller “herd type” dinos! HAH! and the big spike back was in the 3rd Jurassic Park. I LOVED watching them retreive the phone! That was a CLASSIC!

    By the way. My reputation in town is that of “don’t you have a car?” I work making balloon animals at the Farmers markets and other events locally and nearly EVERY time I show up on one of my bikes. Usually the Xtracycle (e-assist bike truck) but sometimes in my PPV which is a 1973 3 speed 120 lb monster. Seats 2, NOT a practical bike, but fun nonethe less. I am RESTORING a pair of 3 speed John Deere bikes that were given to me. WAY fun to ride! Crappy bikes in most respects!

    So will be cars?

    I like to imagine car drivers as a subspecies that has developed an exoskeleton to protect their soft bodies from the elements. Sometimes on nice days, they may emerge for a short time, but during the winter you hardly ever see a member of the subspecies without its exoskeleton except inside a building. I thought up a name of this subspecies, once, but now I can’t think of it.

    See, this goes back to what I said on the 18th about how some motorists treat cyclists: “I’m sure the dinosaurs treated the mammals the same way when they too realized their days were numbered and were rather resentful of their impending inevitable extinction.”

    Could we please stop using the name “Brontosaurus?” I know “thunder lizard” is so much cooler than “deceptive lizard” (Apatasaurus), but Brontosaurus has not been a valid term for some time now.

    Other than that, this paleontologist approves this comic strip!

    I would prefer to think of the 18 wheelers and commercial trucks as “domesticated” dinosaurs, until we get something better, they are useful in maintaining what we have as a society, until, as I said , we get something better.

    It’s not called a duckbill, you are referring to either a mayasaurus or parasaurolophus.

    lol, i totally forgot that they changed the name of Brontasaurus. My reasoning is “They’re dead anyway, I don’t think they will care if you get their name wrong” :)

    to any of us over 40, it will probably always be a “Brontosaurus” and Fred ate Bronto Burgers when he took Wilma out! I think Barney and Betty had the Ribs!

    What’s with the new confusing names anyway? Why change them? Besides, they were all speculative anyway, who knows what they were REALLY like or REALLY did!

    I have been a solid dino nut since about 3rd grade in… mumble mumble….back a few years ago. (turned 55 last Sunday! Arrrrgh! Wish I was 40 again!)

    We had a PPv in the late 70′s. A cousin and I decided we want to go fast. Up a hill and then zoom. Right into the side of a 4 week old car. Lucky we hit the side and were not run over. Busted up the plastic PPV. Kids are lucky to survive childhood.

    The link tot he Kim West radio show doesn’t have a stream (not on Sundays at least).

    Anyone know where we can hear the show live outside of DesMoines?

    If I miss it, I’ll listen to the podcast feed, which I did find. It’s at http://kxno.com/podcast/kimwest.xml

    In itunes you can paste that URL by clicking

    Advanced>Subscribe to podcast

    Just paste the URL in the box and it will download the show when it’s up. I’m sure there are lots of other tools, besides itunes, but that’s what I use.

    Again: does anyone have a link for a live stream?

Who’s Yehuda Moon?

Yehuda Moon works at the Kickstand Cyclery, lives on his bicycle and dreams of a day when everyone does likewise.

The comic strip is about two guys who run a bike shop and the challenges they face in the store and on the road. Yehuda‘s the utilitarian advocate; Joe‘s the go-fast pragmatist. Thistle Gin, a wrench and biking mom, rounds them out.
