Yehuda Moon works at the Kickstand Cyclery, lives on his bicycle and dreams of a day when everyone does likewise.
The comic strip is about two guys who run a bike shop and the challenges they face in the store and on the road. Yehuda‘s the utilitarian advocate; Joe‘s the go-fast pragmatist. Thistle Gin, a wrench and biking mom, rounds them out.

Ha ha ha! Who’s gonna stop ‘em from climbing out?
On a different tack, my two pence [UK based reader here
] This is still a very fun comic, it’s one of the few things I remember to do before I go to work [in a bike shop, LOL]
Last bit : *Does* that bike not have chainstays?! Or just a drive-side one? *IS* it based on an AS-R Seven!?
US designers, eh?
It has seatbelts (and a cover with a flap you can close for added peace and quiet).
Painted rear mudguard and box? The Kickstand goes the extra mile!
I still think that Yehuda bet low and should have made Joe pull a trailer fully of bricks for 3 months or something if Joe lost the bet.
Bakfietsen are cool.
I want a Bakfiet…
Love the school-bus-yellow box!
Too bad Yehuda didn’t think of the bike bus idea sooner – he coulda made Joe drive the bus!
Yeah!! Bike Bus, Bike Bus!!

Ride On!
Cool. I’ve actually seen one of these in use in Amsterdam as well. I’ll have to look into finding a school around Eugene interested in one.
Thanks for the link, Shane.
Those pictures were taken in the town (Delft, NL) that my Uncle lives in! I’m sending it to him now to see if he’s seen it.
(For those that haven’t seen my previous comments by Uncle’s family is carless and has a Bakfiets as their family “pickup truck”.)
p.s. check out the bus driver! hubba hubba!
What is with that orange bike?!?! it really doesn’t have chainstays at all, nevermind the host of other detail omitted for style reasons.
I can smell a dispute coming about Yehuda’s dedication to his duties. He has even mentioned it himself, in the last strip or two.
And man, the debates and legal issues about using a Bakfiets as a schoolbus… my, oh my, we’re in for some interesting times.
Has anyone else noticed Yehuda’s penchant for painting things his way? First the bike lanes, now the School Bakfiets.
The school bus appears to be standing up but with the stand up, if you see what I mean. Maybe it uses the same magic as the orange thing!
SEHFirth – In my experience, my kids absolutely love riding in our friends’ bakfiets, and never try to climb out. It’s hard enough to get them out at the end of a ride.
I would love it if we had a neighborhood bike bus!
I bet that if Joe rides an upright & heavy bike for a few days, he’ll be able to catch “The Grail”.
Holy Moley! Missing chainstays – twice in one week! I’ve gotta slow down.
That’s why it’s the bike Yahuda *should* be working on – it’s in for a chainstay upgrade, apparently one of the shop’s specialties.
You’re welcome for the plot machina.
another happy bakfiets user here: http://www.sonomanews.com/articles/2008/08/18/news/doc489b9acec3478740948172.txt
the bakfiets will have its back wheel in a display type stand to hold it upright
isn’t that right Rick?
No one at the SHOP painted the bakfiets – look at the background – I think this was painted AT HOME…
Yahuda is going to cargo net the kids in place..
NHJ, if you look again the talk balloons are coming down stairs which means they are in the shop upstairs and there is paint drips on the paper below the Bakfiets.
Not to nitpick, but that’s bad English. It should read “The bike on which Yehuda should be working.” Prepositions are nothing to end a sentence with.
(That error is the joke, so don’t correct me)
This is the sort of rule up with which I will not put.
