I thought you guys were talking about a fixer upper bike like mine, not a fixed gear. Would ever ride with no brakes???... I'm still trying teach my son how to use his coaster brake.

It's a town cruiser with the seat down low, a single gear and a backpedal break on the freewheel system.

The guy is 16 and uses it to get up to the shops when his mum tells him to go get some more milk.

**Does it seem like everyday there's drama now?

@RichardT

You're right. Being an ex messenger, you really can tell who's in it for what. I've been riding fixamajig's (that just sounds awkward) for 5 years now, and still run a front brake.

It's 70% of your stopping power in the front, and it's pretty much useless, if not dangerous to have a back brake. I like having the assurance of having an E-brake when it's needed, granted I rarely use it, but it's still there. Brakeless, yes, is the "tradtional" way to ride a fixed gear, but if you're not in a velodrome, be smart and a put a brake on. You're gonna get laughed at just as much when you plow into the side of a car as your hipster buddies will when you have a brake... and you might want to start looking for new friends.

It's pretty low. Look how Yehuda is standing. And with no visible parts, I'm guessing that it's a scooter. And not even a razor!

What should we call it then? "Fixie" is easier to type and say than "fixed gear".
