Yehuda Moon works at the Kickstand Cyclery, lives on his bicycle and dreams of a day when everyone does likewise.
The comic strip is about two guys who run a bike shop and the challenges they face in the store and on the road. Yehuda‘s the utilitarian advocate; Joe‘s the go-fast pragmatist. Thistle Gin, a wrench and biking mom, rounds them out.

Brilliant!!!
I had to Google Margaret Hamilton to discover that she was the Wicked Witch of the West. I don’t know if riding in the drops would have been enough to change her image, though.
Funny the Wicked Witch of the West should be brought up because that was the first thing I thought of the day Yehuda’s rain cape rendered him airborne in the wind…
I don’t see how Margaret Hamilton has done any harm to bicycling at all. What, is Joe implying that everyone is going to assume anyone riding a bicycle is a mean-spirited busybody shrew just because of that one scene? I doubt it. Besides, her riding technique was surprisingly good; that’s a pretty good cadence she had going there, particularly on a heavy single speed…
I can’t picture her having drop handlebars; the bike she had just fit her character perfectly somehow.
What no mention of ET
She had a serious track sprinter cadence going when she was riding the tornado!
In Joe’s mind her image would have been immeasurably improved if she hadn’t have been riding Yehuda’s bike!
Funny on Henry Ford…he was an avid cyclist and built his plants so his employees could utilize mass transit. He was still riding a bicycle well into his 70′s
I must have worse resolution on my screen than everyone else, I have been trying for days to read the title of the leaflet that appears semi-frequently and still have no idea what it is.
Circus bears? TARCK BEAR!
That’s the Lauterbrunnental Leaflet! See here:

It’s a riff on the Rivendell Reader.
thank i had the same issue.
I’ll second Margaret Hamilton. My co-workers have made those references from time to time, complete with soundtrack! >:-(
more than once, whilst riding my Raleigh 3-speed with big Wald basket around town, I have heard local hooligans start singing the “wicked witch” music as I go by. I now accept the inevitable and just yell at them “I’ll get you, my pretty”
just to show people that cycling is still hot, check out the video at the bottom of this site:

Actually Margaret Hamilton, also played the spinsterish Miss Almira Gulch, who rode a bicycle in one scene, and managed to find the ultimate head wind…..
My wife pointed out that Paul Newman has done much to HELP biking.
and your little dog too!
funny – I’ve often thought about the Wicked Witch when I ride. Oh how I wish I could send flying monkeys after the oil barons!
Whoa, when did Yehuda start taking comments for the comics?
June 1st.
Pee Wee Herman did wonders for bikes.
Kermit? But Kermit the Frog rode bikes. That obviously is only going to help bikes. I imagine that if Kermit had never ridden a bike, they would not exist today, everyone having completely lost interest.
