Sometimes it's a question of "want" rather than "need." Sure, you try to advise, but if the customer has the $$$, and WANTS the $3k carbon-frame roadie (because Lance has one,) and you know that it will spend most of the rest of its life in his garage, well, that's a nice chunk of change in the cash drawer.
