Yehuda Moon works at the Kickstand Cyclery, lives on his bicycle and dreams of a day when everyone does likewise.
The comic strip is about two guys who run a bike shop and the challenges they face in the store and on the road. Yehuda‘s the utilitarian advocate; Joe‘s the go-fast pragmatist. Thistle Gin, a wrench and biking mom, rounds them out.

Nothing quite like walking a bike across pavement with cleated shoes.
What’s MUP ?
Multi-use path.
In the UK it’s “Cyclists Dismount” on the signs. They’re usually there to say ‘if you disobey this sign and then have an accident, the local authority is not liable’. I’ve seen them on footbridges with railings high enough for pedestrians, but which you could conceivably go over if you lost control of your bike and went over the handlebars.
Dr. Rad nails it. Yep, I think it’s mostly a CYA for the local authorities. My little village has stop signs for the railroad tracks. The railroad tracks which have 1 or at most 2 trains/day, up & down which you can see for a mile in each direction. Bikes, cars, walkers, everything is supposed to stop for the train that isn’t there. Grrr.
