Not only have I had bicycles stolen, but I have “stolen” my own bicycle at least once when I had forgotten my keys. A good punchline would have been (from the mouth of the theif) “but it’s MY BIKE!”

@Drew – Maybe the point is that bike theft isn’t funny, ever?

This is a case of ‘stupid crook syndrome’. He shoulda said “Lost the key to my lock, man” or something like that, and Yehuda might have helped him ‘unlock’ it. Yehuda is definitely old school, though, and probably get sued by the crook later. Joe would have called the cops on his cellphone/bluetooth.

We’ve tried that most U-locks are enough wide and long to lock an average man to a pole by his neck without doing harm.
Just imagine catching a thief with your friend, and locking him up ’till the police arrive.

Perhaps Yehuda could have found a non-lethal way to stop the bike thief, perhaps even a humorous one?
