I once almost got clocked by a "bike ninja" of the Latin variety (a guy riding home from his job at a restaurant on a Wal-Mart MTB). I was walking along a sidewalk late at night after work. My head was turned to the left looking at this new hotel that had just been built. Suddenly, the aforementioned bike ninja practically appeared on the sidewalk out of thin air and missed me by mere inches. The real kicker was he didn't even utter a sound as he approached me. He just rode on away.
