Just came across this comic strip, this one’s a gem. I had a nice run in with some black ice last winter. I had wiped out and was picking my bike up before I even really understood what had happened. Black ice is a harsh mistress.

Only once, which was on my road bike. Bent the derailleur hanger. Didn’t notice. Consequently put the derailleur into the spokes, and snapped the dropout in two.
