I’ve heard that the US flag is great redneck repellent. No self respecting redneck will dis the flag.

Not sure a US flag would work too well over here. Maybe team GB cycling kit – or maybe not given that Wiggo was knocked off the other week.

Aren’t you being a bit hopeful?
Ask the average Britain on the street and they wouldn’t know who BW was!

It is really only among the cycling fraternity that Wiggins may be known IMHO

How to get the attention of the average Briton? Maybe a Hi-Vis suit, although even that is being seen as a common sight these days. With such being worn for ‘health and safety’ and legal pressure has even office workers wearing them! Not to mention the staff in big stores and so on.

We must find a way of being an UNCOMMON sight – that means changing every few weeks… :-(

          Bike Nude!
Ok, maybe not the greatest idea this time of year. But it would get you noticed.

I wouldn’t recommend wearing a confederate flag on your back in America. That might protect you from the rednecks – but would serve as a bullseye for everybody else.

A ‘merican’ flag hanging off the back of the saddle gets me an extra two feet clearance from pickups every time!

Is the sort of person who disregards their fellow human being’s life the sort of person who would regard their flag?

Troiker – You sometimes have to throw logic out of the window when dealing those types of people.

Some flashing Xmas lights would certainly increase the safety. Um… maybe even a small tree in a trailer?

I got tons of waves and smiles and plenty of room when I brought a 6′ christmas tree home slung across the rack of my bike. I routinely put battery powered LED christmas lights on my bikes this time of year, which gets lots of comments. I don’t know that they really make drivers behave better, but they definitely spread some Christmas cheer and I think make people more positive towards bikes in general.

I actually used this safety theory today (well, sort of) and wore a Santa Hat. I arrived unscathed.

Yah, that’d work at least as well as a pretty summer dress on a warm day. Mind you, I’ve not too many more years before summer dresses cringe when I come around.

Who’s Yehuda Moon?

Yehuda Moon works at the Kickstand Cyclery, lives on his bicycle and dreams of a day when everyone does likewise.

The comic strip is about two guys who run a bike shop and the challenges they face in the store and on the road. Yehuda‘s the utilitarian advocate; Joe‘s the go-fast pragmatist. Thistle Gin, a wrench and biking mom, rounds them out.
