Socialism is an economic model. Classic liberalism is about individual freedom. Nanny states happen under all kinds of partisan governance, as do mandatory helmet laws.

Don there is no logic in comparing am arm injury to a potential head injury. You can spend a long time relearning the alphabet after a serious head injury and you may not have the insurance to cover it. Lots of folks don't have any, which means YOU have to pay for it.

Actually Mountain Biking is one of those times that wearing a helmet is a good idea because of the unpredictable traction, especially when it's dampish (not soaked, but not dry either).

Not the motor manufacturers - the helmet manufacturers. It's a product with no measureable benefit (for adults, at least) in search of a market

Why do people blame helmet laws on socialism when it's possible that it's the capitalist motor industry behind them.

If a cyclist falls in the woods and there's no motorist there to see it, is it still his fault if he's not wearing a helmet?
