Yehuda Moon works at the Kickstand Cyclery, lives on his bicycle and dreams of a day when everyone does likewise.
The comic strip is about two guys who run a bike shop and the challenges they face in the store and on the road. Yehuda‘s the utilitarian advocate; Joe‘s the go-fast pragmatist. Thistle Gin, a wrench and biking mom, rounds them out.

I’m beginning to wonder if hidden under that granny exterior is a pollution spewing demon at work
Maybe she’s Sidewalk Jones’ mother?!?!
I blame mumsnet.
How do I log in to the new site and sort out my avatar? The log in won’t recognise my username, and the old email and password log in has disappeared.
I get the same thing too.
BTW, how to register?
@VexedVeloist: The login at the bottom of the page is for Kickstand Club members which, I believe, includes new subscribers to the comic. The old method of logging in using third party accounts (Twitter, Google, etc.) was a feature of the old hosting software (JS-Kit) and is not available with on the new site (WordPress).
I haven’t used the comment feature for non-subscribers, but it looks like you don’t need another account to login unless you want an avatar, and that’s handled by Gravatar.com.
I am a subscriber but the thing won’t recognise my username. This site has got worse than ever. Time to cancel my subscription I think. I’ve put up with it not working properly for months now. I’ve had enough.
Hi,
I tried looking up ‘vexedvoloist’ in our user list but didn’t find you. Thought you might have used that name when you were a Kickstand Club member. Please let me know what your username was and I will send you your password.
My old username was Pashley_Moulton. I know my password, I just can’t get the system to log me in.
I don’t see Pashley_Moulton as a username in our database. Are you sure that wasn’t the username you used to register with the old commenting system?
That’s right it was. Am I supposed to register again now? Where do I do that?
I’ll be adding a register link shortly, but for now, your computer will remember who you are when you comment.
I remember PM commenting for years. Good stuff too IMHO
Thanks to you granny, Thistle is gonna get a fistload of flak…
Car drivers are too apathetic. Thistle’s friends will rally round her and put a proverbial sock in granny.
This is feedback for Rick…
Somehow I had the strip on my new mobile phone today – Samsung Galaxy G2/9100
I was pleased to be able to read it okay but the for square buttons for face book, twitter, rss_share and youtube were stuck at the top of screen blocking the strip below them.
nb: not a complaint – just letting you know to help you ‘get it right’ for everybody.
I hope the hard work on the website will not affect your job to much?
Too much
Still working on mobile version.
Okay so thats the way to reply to a reply!
Can’t put the response next to wh
ipad finger trouble…
can’t put the response next to what I am replying too though.
Just have to use more words and carefully write what I am responding to before responding. just like we put @ to aim a comment at a respondant.
Rick you are stirring up a witches brew here.
It’s great how the drivers admit to being inattentive, but still think that cycling is the issue.
Exactly. I’m unable to change my abhorrent behavior so you must change yours.
I wonder if this latest story arc is inspired by this real world case of cycling being banned in the name of ‘safety’:
http://bicyclecolo.org/articles/black-hawk-bike-ban-pg1118.htm
Welcome to the land of the ‘free’.
Only if Ms. State is really a front person for casino financial interests, which, using “safety” as a ruse, only care about ensuring that gambler’s Winnebagos get into town as quickly as possible.
That’s not the only place especially for “children” kids aren’t allowed to ride bicycles to school at many of the Grade and Middle schools in my area
I have some legislation to propose. How about book testing for drivers license renewal? And put good questions on it like how to approach cyclists and unpowered stop lights. I about failed my motorcycle book test because I didn’t know how many hours of community service for drunk driving.
This morning on the way to work I was on the motorcycle and a guy in a pickup truck split me and the curb (no shoulder) to turn right before I did.
A do-gooder??? She’s probably jealous that she never rode wih her kids…
Never had kids I’m guessing. Maybe never even married.
The Evil Ms. State is the same as all of the cyclist helmet-nazis out there. The only difference is, she isn’t a cyclist – which somehow makes her wrong while the cyclists who say things like “I won’t ride with someone who isn’t wearing a helmet!” are right.
Face it: Ms State = The state of the Bicycle Safety & Advocacy people.
I was commenting recently that I was getting weary of all the helmet bashing subject matter (which is completely worn out and uninteresting at this point), and wished that some of the story arcs would be picked up. Well, I sort of got my wish: a story arc about helmet laws. God, please let this wrap up and move onto something more interesting.
Whatever happened to the Grow-Bike that Yehuda was going to debut at Interbike just before the strip’s hiatus?
I think the “they weren’t wearing helmets” part of her complaint was just to make it sound worse. Her objective is to stop people from riding with children in the street altogether, so it’s not really about helmet laws per se.
This is happening right now in #bikewpg

Wow! The last line of her diatribe sure sounds like a threat to run her and her child down next time.
Yeah, it’s really been something of a mess up here.
So are you the ‘winnipeg girl’ in the article?
Go over Rick’s back catalog of comments and you will eventually understand what the author was doing wrong by overtaking the cyclist then stopping. Unnecessary, Selfish driving IMHO.
First time writing, long time reading. Love the new site Rick and enjoying this new story arc, albeit a bit worried about where it’s heading.
Long-time lurker/member. I like the new site.
I like seeing this issue highlighted here. It’s real, it’s a problem, and it’s continual. There will always be someone who’d rather force you to moderate your behaviour to avoid moderating their own, even when their behaviour is causing the problem.
Yolanda got it.
Rather than deal with inattentive drivers; drivers who are piloting 3000 pounds of steel, plastic, and rubber, people say “Put on this foam hat!” How about cracking down on texting drivers, drunk drivers, stupid drivers, sleepy drivers, etc. They’re a danger to everyone. Me not wearing a helmet is a danger to myself. Which person should be changing their behaviour?
Amen to that Platy!
Not wearing a helmet does not mean that you are a danger to yourself.
Wow wee some peoples idea of being safe. People think me ridding a bicycle on my resorvation is a scarry thing to do. It is weird I am six feet two, two hundres and fifty pounds, military trained and going to school to be a police officer. Now if ther were dragons flying around eatting people on the streets that is another thing all together. (or zombies)
Just checking my log in Testing, testing, 1…2…3. Had this been an actual emergency…oh never mind.
Wouldn’t it be funny if Ms. State was Yehuds’s aunt?
It would
His uncle has just died.

There’s nothing worse than self-righteous people.
Question to ask a motorist: “Would you rather see fewer cars on the road or fewer bikes?”
When the people of the Netherlands were confronted with the same problem – the safety of their bike riding children, they didn’t ban bike riding, but started construction of the excellent bicycle infrastructure that they have today.
And the wonderful people of your country went beyond infrastructure to eliminate most hills. If you could only eliminate winter you’d be close to cycling paradise.
In Australia, you have this: http://blogs.crikey.com.au/theurbanist/2012/09/01/is-aca-playing-the-mum-on-cycling/
